This analysis tool has been introduced whereby frequency data on HLA alleles can be converted to the corresponding frequency data of amino acids. This application is useful to compare the frequency of amino acids in a population to other populations, especially in the context of a disease association study. Obviously, only those populations with 4 digits minimum resolution can be used for this tool. It is thus possible, knowing the frequency of the allele in a population, to ascertain and sum the frequencies of amino acid at each of the variable positions of the HLA molecule in that population.
