  Additional notes: We genotyped 50 Eastern Sicilians from the provinces of Eastern Sicily: 72% from Catania, the remaining individuals from Siracusa, Ragusa, Enna, and Caltanissetta. The Eastern Sicilians were unrelated adult hematopoietic stem cell donors belonging to the CD-CT02 Registry (Italian Bone Marrow Registry, IBMDR), who signed an informed consent for the collection of their genetic data. The subjects were aged between 18 and 32 years, 56% women. We asked them to answer to a questionnaire to exclude inbreeding and verify the autochthony until the second generation.
